Did you know 80% of college students change their majors at least once? It happens by your junior year, and it is always shocking. Did you know that most students go into college not thinking about their childhood dream? This is me, and you will be shocked when I tell you what my dream job was. I am currently an anthropology major, and it took me a while to find it. I adore everything about anthropology. There is a mystery around it, and it makes me want to figure out those mysteries. Before attending college, I wanted to become a police officer. Shocking right?
I wanted to be a police officer since I was a young child. I liked that they protect and serve. That dream went down the drain once I learned about cop brutality. As I got older, I saw more violence from the police and was not impressed. When I was in 5th grade, I was asking about life. Why are we here? Where did our species come from? Are we alive? I used to cry because I didn’t want to die. It was that deep. I never knew why I had those thoughts, but I did. I then started thinking about the hospitals. I wanted to be a doctor. I honestly didn’t know what I wanted. I knew I wanted to help people, but that is what everyone says.
I got my associates in liberal arts and science. I took biology, chemistry, earth science, microbiology, and botany classes. Once I transferred, I majored in biology. I found out that I am not good at physics, and it ruined me. I was not happy taking these classes, because they were tough, and there is a lot to go into it. I researched everything I love, and that is where I saw a description of anthropology. I researched it, and I was in disbelief. Is this it? Is my dream career in my face? It was, and after taking intro to anthropology, I fell in love. I talk about it 24/7, and I love researching. I want to focus on early humans. Who were the people before us? Why are we the only species left? That and traveling are all I want in life.
